About the Artist

Dion Weichers is a painter and illustrator based in Loveland, Colorado. His work lives at the crossroads of pop surrealism, German Expressionism, and both dark and whimsical fantasy. He uses a variety of traditional and digital mediums—including acrylic paint, colored pencils, markers, pastels, and digital illustrations to create emotionally charged, imaginative worlds.

Dion’s art is known for its exaggerated features, dark humor, and hauntingly beautiful imagery. Each piece offers a blend of the macabre and the magical, inviting viewers into a narrative-rich journey that balances beauty and darkness. Whether it's a surreal portrait or a fantastical creature, He aims to spark curiosity and emotional resonance in the people who encounter his work.

He studied animation at the Art Institute of Colorado, but his creative path began long before that—starting with crayons in 2nd grade, where his artistic talent was first recognized. Colored pencils became his go-to medium throughout childhood and teen years. It wasn’t until college that Dion was introduced to acrylic painting, a turning point that opened the door to large-scale, expressive work and a deeper exploration of his artistic voice.

Over the past several years, Dion has been fortunate to have worked from a studio at Artworks in Loveland, where he connected with a thriving local arts community and took part in creative collaborations. His work has been featured in galleries and has found a permanent home at Verboten Brewing. Dion also participates in maker markets and art events across northern Colorado and looks to expand into the Denver art scene.

He is currently open for commissions and excited to connect with others who find meaning in the mysterious, fantastical, and emotionally raw corners of the imagination. Thanks for being here.
